Volunteers Needed: Provide Foster Children and Unforgettable Day on the Water

Calling all Foster Lake, Lake Billy Chinook and East Devils Lake boaters! Wake the World, the largest volunteer organization dedicated to providing foster children with watersports opportunities, needs your support. Wake the World is eagerly anticipated by foster children and volunteers alike, as it creates a day filled with unforgettable memories and transformative experiences. By bringing together a community of caring individuals, the event generates a ripple effect of positivity that extends far beyond the day itself.

If you’re inspired to make a difference, there are three ways you can contribute to the success of Wake the World.

  1. The greatest need is to become a volunteer boat driver (inboard boats only). Driving is an excellent way to engage with the children and witness the joy firsthand directly.
  2. Become a volunteer - from serving meals, fitting life vests, holding boats at the dock, registration, volunteers are needing to pull off this amazing day for these wonderful kids.
  3. Donate to support the event’s logistics and ensure its success.

During Wake the World events, each foster family is assigned their own boat and boat driver, ensuring a personalized experience for the children. This unique setup allows them to have undivided attention and maximize their enjoyment. The day is packed with an array of activities that empower the kids to explore new horizons. From learning how to wakeboard and wakesurf to trying water tubing or zip boarding, they are exposed to exhilarating experiences. The event introduces them to new activities and helps build their confidence and self-esteem.

It is a testament to the power of collective action and compassion. Through its dedication to empowering foster children, the initiative provides them with opportunities that may have otherwise been out of reach. The event’s personalized approach and diverse range of activities create an environment where kids can thrive, fostering their growth and happiness. Whether through volunteering, donating, or purchasing merchandise, everyone can make a difference in these incredible youngsters' lives. All events are sanctioned and insured through the World Wakeboard Association. See you out on the water!
